Do I need any experience to start scuba diving?No prior experience is needed! You can begin with our Try Scuba program or go straight into the SSI Open Water Diver course if you're ready to earn a certification.

Is scuba diving safe?Yes, when practiced with proper training and supervision, scuba diving is very safe. SSI emphasizes comfort, control, and confidence in the water, and all of our instructors are trained to the highest safety standards.

Do I need to be in great physical shape?You don’t need to be an athlete, but you should be in generally good health. All students must complete a medical questionnaire, and in some cases, a doctor’s clearance may be required.

Do I need to know how to swim to learn scuba diving?Yes, basic swimming skills are required for scuba diving. You should be comfortable in the water and able to swim at least 200 meters and either float or tread water for 10 minutes without any swim of buoyancy aids.

What is the minimum age to start scuba diving?Children can start scuba diving as young as 10 years old with our Junior Open Water Diver course. For younger kids from the age of 8 years old, we offer introductory programs like SSI Scuba Explorer.

What scuba certifications do you offer?We offer the full range of SSI recreational courses including: Try Scuba Open Water Diver Advanced Adventurer Stress & Rescue Specialty Courses (e.g., Deep Diving, Night Diving, Wreck Diving) Dive Guide & Divemaster Assistant Instructor

How long does it take to become an Open Water Diver?Most students complete the SSI Open Water Diver course with 1 Academic session, 5 Pool sessions and 2 Open Water Days with 2 dives a day. This typically 6 - 7 weeks however we do also offer compressed courses on request.

Is my SSI certification valid worldwide?Yes! SSI certifications are globally recognized. You’ll be able to dive at any dive center around the world that accepts SSI or other major agency certifications.

Can I continue my training after getting certified?Absolutely. SSI encourages continuing education. You can enroll in Specialty Programs, the Advanced Adventurer, or progress all the way to Dive Professional levels.

Does SSI offer online learning?Yes! SSI offers free digital learning materials through the MySSI app and website. You can study at your own pace before or during your course.

How do I access my online training?Once you enroll, you’ll receive a link or login info to access your course materials via the MySSI app (available for iOS and Android) or at www.divessi.com.

Do I need my own scuba gear?For beginners, we provide all the essential scuba equipment for Pool Sessions, however for Open Water you will need to hire kit we commend www.reeldiving.co.uk. As you progress, you may choose to invest in personal gear like a mask, snorkel, fins, or even a full kit for comfort and convenience.

How do I sign up for a course?You can sign up online, call us, or visit our dive school. We’ll help you choose the right course and guide you through the enrollment process.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?You can cancel or reschedule up to 48 hours before your session without penalty. Cancellations after that may incur a fee to cover administrative or preparation costs.
